I bought two SS amps and sold one, I really like the power on an outdoor stage. I have a 59 bassman though it stays home, a blackfaced 1980 Vibrolux which I love though on a big stage it doesn't quite get the job done like the SS, and an early 1970's Benson which is a great jazz amp. I have toyed with changing the speaker. Has anybody tried a speaker change with success? I switched the Vlux to webers (1 ceramic,1 alnico). They sound great.

Does anybody know how you would add a switch to adjust the wattage? I'm new to this forum and have just acquired a supersonic and I love it, but it's a bit loud for my apartment. I have some experience with circuits but I'm not sure how this would be done. Thanks! |

Power switch
Yes this looks like a good idea, similar to the way the ProSonic was set up. It had three different settings for Class A, Class A/B tube rectified and Class A/B SS rectified. I'm not so worried about the rectification, but I would like to be able to bring the am-p down to about 15-25 watts or so myself. I'd like to use it in places where I would normally have to use the Blues Jr.

V9 is the reverb send tube. What are you trying to accomplish?
V1 –12AX7- V1A is the input stage, V1B is the first gain stage of the drive channel (between gain1 and gain2) V2 -12AX7- Used in the Clean channel. V2A is the usual BF-type post tonestack/volume stage. after that, there is the preshaping filter (part of the Vibrolux/Bassman-switching) followed by V2B as a buffer stage V3 -12AX7- Used in the Burn channel as second (V3A) and third (V3B) gain stage, followed by the tone stack and master volume V4 -12AX7- V4A is a buffer stage after the switching relay between clean and burn. V4B is the effects loop send buffer stage V5 -12AX7-Effects Loop - V5A is the effects loop return buffer stage, V5B is the reverb mixer stage V6 12AT7 Phase Inverter V7 6L6GC Power Section V8 6L6GC Power Section V9 12AT7 - Reverb send stage V10 12AX7 - Reverb makeup/buffer

Hello Gentleman,
I haven't been on this website in years. I was doing Google searches on the Fender Supersonic and it led me here. So first HAPPY HOLIDAYS GUYS!!! 2 years ago I ditched my Fender Super Sonic because of one stupid reason “The footswitch”… singing and playing guitar in the band, my wide foot would come out of the Burn channel and also come down on the second button switching me from Vibroluxe to Bassman. The 20plus db jump in volume use to scare the crap out of me. After spend a ton of money on many different amps I have come back round-robin. I just purchased a N.O.S. That a store was blowing out at $900.00 making room for the new improved models. I just recently found a company called voodooman switches that makes a custom 1 button supersonic switch that I just ordered which I am banking will solve my problem #1. http://voodoomanswitches.com/compone...mart/Itemid,1/ My second issue I am looking for a little help on: On a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp PREAMP OUT & POWER AMP IN is the "effect loop" of this amplifier. On a Fender Supersonic Amp - you have a designated SEND / RETURN for the Effects loop, but you also has a PREAMP OUT & POWER AMP IN. The only effect I use is a Boss DD3. When I hook it up through the loop my delay pedal, (no matter how close to the original amp volume I set the send/return volumes) I get noise coming through the amp. (Actually I get this extra noise/interference when I put a patch cable into the send return too). If I hook up my delay like I did when I had my Hot Rod Deluxe (through the PREAMP OUT & POWER AMP IN) I get no added noise. Does anyone else find the effect loop noisy and has anyone come up with anything to rectify it? |

ALSO- it's possible it could be microphonic tubes causing the noise. See my tube chart above and try replacing the ones for the fx loop send and return. (but this problem is almost always a dirty fx loop jack.)

WOOO HOO!! FIXED!
I didn't know until I checked witha repair guy that a lot of the tubes in Fender amps are made by Sovtek. I was told the tolerances are all over the place and he recomended swapping out my V5 with a JJ Electronics tube....now I have a quite effects loop! |

My S~S60 combo is MASSIVELY loud and heavy - I could not begin to contemplate what the S~S 100w 2x12 is like to deal with! But clips I have heard it sounds very nice... and with its subtle colour difference to the faceplate - it also looks nice too... Any owners joined-up here yet? How is living in the real world?
Soon to test - a Cannabis Rex in place of the V30...

i'm happy to say that i finally got rid of mine. nice cleans, but i never found any love for that gain channel. i had no choice but to order it online so it was a roll of the dice for me. i used to own the prosonic and i was kind of banking on the SS gain channel to sound similar. not even close. different leagues. that said, GREAT amp to use as a platform for fuzzes, od's, and distortion boxes if that's your thing. never once did i find myself wishing it had a midrange knob. again, beautiful cleans. just wasn't the complete package for me. YMMV

I'm strongly thinking about buying a Super Sonic 100. I know it's a heavy amp but I really like the power scaling, even if I don't need a 100 watt amp very often it's comforting to know its there.
Has anyone had much experience with the 100? |

I definately am impressed with my supersonic. ESPECIALLY the Bassman channel! Nice, fat tone and really responsive. my friend has a 59 Bassman Reissue that was gutted and replaced with clone guts. It hangs right with it and his amp is one of the nicest sounding amps I have ever played through. I didn't have enough tubes around to replace all the tubes (only down side to the amp) so I am patiently waiting for my tube order to come in then I'm sure it will sound even better! I have a green Tone Tubby Hempcone to put in it too then Im leaving her alone for a while and just gonna enjoy the sweet sound of this amp!
