I think we can all agree that how something starts frequently is a determiner of how it turns out... but, in this case the level of civility is returning and that is a good thing. Jelly, great to see you back around! Don't be a stranger!

Thanks for that. That's what I like to see. In most cases, threads like this will resolve themselves, and all parties will come to a peaceful resolution. If threads are being deleted, and the forum's being over-moderated, it will only breed contempt toward mods, and leave differences unresolved. In my opinion: If a thread or poster is becoming abusive, by all means delete the posts. If there's no real abuse, and some people are just being whiners, monitor the situation, and allow it to work itself out. Just my 2 cents.

Hehehehehe
I'm going to chime in here for a sec...
I don't post here too awful much, and as a bit more of an outsider let me tell you what I've seen here. TRed is young and to-the-point. No harm, no foul. Just as older folks expect the young to be respectful of their viewpoints and the way they choose to communicate with each other, so should the young be afforded the same leniency. Over the years, I have perused this board and seen a trend that at times has apalled me and at other times made me laugh. Now don't get me wrong... I like coming here or else i just wouldn't. But... to the point. There is alot of 'if you're not a codger like me, then you don't know squat' attitude around here, at times. Personally, I like the mixture of the young and old around here, for certain reasons. I like to learn from those older than me... because chances are you're already tried some of the things I'm contemplating. Why not learn from any mistakes you may have made, or make things easier by taking your advice on short-cuts you have found? As far as the young (which being in my early 30's, I suppose I could be considered), why not appreciate the personality and cultural implications youth brings to the table, as well? A fine mixture of everything makes the world go around. Anyway, I just realized I'm probably wasting my time typing all of this. But, I felt I needed to speak my peace, for some reason. As far as buddywayne, I expected more from someone of your seasoning than the barrel-bottom 'you suck'. Sorry.

RocksOff,
You make some good points and I think in both the first thread and in this one... the mods did allow for some leniency even though we could see that the initial part of the post was gonna prove to be too much to get past. I dig Tred and I think he'll be a great contributor here. Clearly, it is NEVER okay to say that someone sucks no matter how provocative they may be. It is against our rules about personal attacks and it is regrettable IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES... but, since it was readily apparent that everyone knows this and there would be some self-policing going on, I saw no reason to admonish the poster. I think he knows that isn't okay. So, it is good to let the young be young (within the rules of the forum) and it is good to remain civil. Tred would do the thread a little differently now and I think some of the other guys would refrain from getting SO mad. There were lots of guys who had fun in the first thread and in this one too.... so it is not a complete loss. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.. again, you make some really good points.

Rocksoff, i agree with everything you said, but i gotta point out that buddywayne did apologize and we kissed and made up like nice folks.
Getbent, nice to know you recognize i see the errors of my ways in the previous posting. I'm trying to be very diplomatic and respectful while still standing up for myself. i'm sure you'll ket me know if i've crossed a line, as i would expect you to for anyone else who posts here. Everyone else, i've tried to kill this thread only to be greeted by caustic remarks or snide comments. If they continue, i will defend myself and my words. Just because some may not like what i have to say, that doesn't mean i don't have a right to say it- as long as i'm not breaking the rules. Off to play my tele... |

Too bad the original post was deleted, because 5 years from now, when someone makes a comment about the weight of an amp,we wont be able to refer him to the original post. Anyways overall it remained somewhat civilized. Once again thanks to the mods for letting us blow some steam, but then also recognized when its stime to stop
