At that price probably worth considering. Gibson's regular amp pricing is nuts. I was lucky to find my 15 watt Goldtone (Trace Vellocette) for $380. It had been sitting in the store so long they sold it as used. At $999 list, they probably sold a dozen or so of them.

Hand-wired, JJ tubes... Looks like a keeper!
I can't find any mention of "Made in the USA" though... Cheers, Tim

I have one
And I love it. Mine is a couple of years old and it is made in USA, but don't know about the newer ones. Its a good amp for around the house.

When you figure that a 5F1 Champ kit from Weber runs $415 before you build it, $299 for that Gibson is a great deal. Hmmmmmm.

Good catch! I was looking at the big plate full of serial numbers and such. Heck, I even downloaded the picture and blew it up!
Cheers, Tim

Oh my!!!
Thanks a lot. Like I needed to get it (but I did). These are awesome amps and I foolishly let one go a while back. Now I'm getting it again for an even better price.
Music 123 still has them at $699 and Sweetwater has them at $399. I had looked into getting the GA-5 from MF if they could match the SW price. At that time they said they couldn't do it. Hmmm, could this be an error or a really good price for a handwired amp. Either way, I think the ones that jump on this are going to be very happy. |

I assume this is 4ohms? I'm seriously considering this. I've still got a 10% coupon I can use until the end of the month. At least I think its till the end of the month.

4 Ohm
Yes, these are 4 ohm speakers in these beauties.
Billy Gibbons even played one on ACL. Here is a link and video. Like Tim always says, just mic it up. http://admin.online.pbs.org/klru/austin/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=152&Item id=637 |

Those little Gibsons are a GREAT sounding little amp. The tone is very open and rich for the size of the box. I bought a used one at the Good Will for $5 about 2 years ago. I sold it for $300, but I should have kept it.
A great little amp.

I've had one for a couple of years, a dealer friend sold me one at cost...which at the time was more than 299! Great amp for recording. I play my lap steel through it and it sounds cool, it likes harmonica too. Hard to beat at that price.

Isn't this the amp that was selling for 7 bills? Seems like I read something a while back that these were going to be "price reduced". I guess this is it. Seems a much more reasonable price that will generate a lot more sales than $700 would. Can't cost 'em squat to build 'em. How do these amps sound?

I couldn't hold out either. I've missed so many deals at MF and I wasn't going to miss out on this one. I also used my MF coupon, but it was for 10%, so I got my for $269.99 which is still an amazing price. Its gonna sound great through my 2x10 cab. Looks like I'll be seeing an SM57 in my future.
