torres reverb king
New to the forum. Just wondering if anyone has tried a Torres Reverb King? I should have mine sometime before the week is out. It is 35 watts in class A and has a 12" Naylor. Should sound great! I have been playing through a Fender Deluxe Reissue. I was not that thrilled with it stock, so I sent it to Torres to modify. It really sounds fantastic now! I play a Tele style custom made by a friend of mine. Semi-hollow body- swamp ash-one piece birdseye maple neck-T.V. Jones Filter Tron Classic in neck-Lindy Fralin Strat in middle-Seymour Duncan 5/2 in bridge. Wonderful sounding guitar. Play mostly southern style gospel.

Interesting pickup combo in guitar! I really like the idea of the TV Jones at neck! I've been wanting to do that for a while and in a simi hollow... :) I bet it sounds GREAT!!!
Haven't heard the Torres amp, but he should know his stuff and what he is doing... he's been at it a long time... I bought his amp book last year.... |

Torres?? Run for cover. Stay away from that guy. Any serious tech worth his salt will advise you to avoid Torres. Bad sounding mods, destructive mods, poor customer service, hacks, technical misinformation, you name it. I know a tech who specializes in the removal of Torres mods. Look on the net, you'll see lots of Torres horror stories.
Jeez, I thought everyone knew all this by now. |

Are you guys saying that Torres can't build a simple amp with his name on it... I have a friend that built a bassman for a high school electronics project, 1st. try, that came out great... and Torres can write books on it and not solder one together....????

Torres Amps
I don't know of anyone that has had one of those "bad" experiences with Torres. I'm not saying that I don't believe someone has had problems, I just know that the times I've dealt with him I've had great results. My Deluxe Reverb sounds wonderful! A lot better than it did out of the box. I hope my Reverb King doesn't disappoint. I do thank you for the heads up though.

Kidd,
Torres books are a joke. How to ruin a perfectly good amp with BS mods. Come on man, do some research on the guy, jeez..... I assume you think Pittman's books are technical masterpieces as well? Mark, yeah, I saw that but then failed to remember the class A nonsense during my response. What a joke. How much do you want to bet that it's really class AB1. You know, if you guys want to *not* get burned by BS artists, hypemeisters and hacks, you really should do some net research on guys like that before throwing your cash at them. |
