Great Day....5E3 content
So the wife and kids have been away for a couple of days. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
After knocking out the chores, I spent my first solid day in ages playing at Lance's guitar shrine as loud and obnoxious as I wanted. What fun....didn't have any jam buddies lined up so the Boomerrang and Adrenalinn stood in for accompanyment. Jimmy the lab/pit mix helped on vocals. He's significantly better at singing than me although his range needs work. I'll tell ya, that Mission 5E3 tweed deluxe with the 15" Jensen that I built is such an amazing amp. Every guitar sounds great with it - no effects necessary whatsoever - huge tone - distortion at the twist of the volume knob. Digging in gives such a singing lead tone you can't help but feel inspired. My other "desert island" amps ('65 BFDR, '66 Bassman, '64 vibro-champ) are great but the 5E3 just makes you want to play. If you haven't already, I'd really suggest building one of these - you'll really love it.

Cool beans!! You happen to have any clips handy? I've always wondered how a 5E3 would sound through a 15" speaker. I played through a Peavey Delta Blues 1x15 once and I was very impressed with the 15" sound.
I have a Clark Beaufort that I was considering getting a 1x15 ext cab for. Would love to hear your Tele through your rig! BTW, nice collection! |

Mission Amps
Congratulations with your success with the Mission Amp. I'm researching on building a small amp and glad to hear your story. I still haven't decided on which model I'm going after yet. It will be low watt amp (4-5 watts max).
Thanks |

Have you tried an ABY box?
Lance,
I've been having so much fun lately with a Morley ABY in front of my 5E3. I plug the A lead into the normal channel, the B lead into the bright channel. I set the 5E3's knobs at 10, 6-1/2, and 10 (vol., vol., tone). B channel is bright, clear; A channel is dark and moody; Y channel (=A+B) is the best of both worlds. An amazing 3-channel setup is the end result. Who needs stomp boxes? FWIW, I also do the same thing with my 5F4 Super. A different sound than the 5E3, but still 3 usable "channels." If you've never tried it before, you owe it to yourself to give it a whirl. NOTE: this is not the same thing as jumpering from one channel to the other. The sound is different, and the flexibility is a huge bonus. Bob |

Now Dats Cool!
Great suggestion Bob! It's interesting how the volumes interact with each other when bridged too.
Thanks!.... (back down to the shrine to mess with this some more)

another time for sure. i'm heading down to Lovingston to pick up Tim's original Big Muff Pi. I saw a band the other night and the chick playing guitar sounded amazing, Huge. Les Paul Custom into Big Muff Pi, TS9, and a Plexi Marshall 1/2 stack. So now i gotta try a big muff pi. and he's got an old one.
