My Hullett Tweed Deluxe arrived....New YouTube Clip!

EDIT - As I am really liking this amp, I wanted to make a demo clip that did it justice. Here is Arlen Roth playing my 52 Tele thru it.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KgQVC90_e54

I think it shows off the sound of the amp much better than my clip does.

end EDIT

..and I couldn't be happier with it. Great tweed tones, and the best part is, that I now play and sound EXACTLY like Bill Hullett.
Well, not exactly, but a little closer.

I made a little clip to give you an idea of the tone. My apologies for klunkers that are in there, and to any Beatles fans I may have offended.
This is just straight into the amp with no effects.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=y5dpT5KyiXk

Clay, thanks for the awesome amp!!!! Much appreciated!

If your guitar is weeping it is with joy for getting to play through such a nice amp.

Thanks guys. I probably should have turned it up a bit, but hopefully you get a sense of how it sounds.

hey,

That sounds great....thanks for posting it.

To be honest, though.........it sounds great like most tweed Deluxes and clones I've played.

I know tone and feel are hard to translate in a video.........so, could you describe the difference between this and most of the Tweed Deluxe types around?

Thanks!

- Jim

Clays attention to detail and the "little" things that can make a difference are pretty evident with his amps. I have had discussions with Clay and I can tell you he has experimented with various techniques in his builds to get what he considers an optimum amp. He isn't simply throwing together tweed amp clones from kits like some other boutique amp makers.

I have played through a Hullett Deluxe and to me it sounded better than any tweed amp I have ever played through. Very clear, bell like tones and extremely responsive to pick attack.

If I were in the market for a brand new amp my first choice would be a Hullett Tweed Bassman or Deluxe.

take care,
Robbie

I LOVE sushi. Good sushi that is, I've had some bad and don't want to go there again.

Glad you had a good birthday.

take care,
Robbie

Hi Jim,

I wouldn't be able to compare it to any others as Bill's amp was really the first Tweed I had ever player thru.

Mike Rice and I were in Nashville, and stopped by to visit with Bill and Clay. Bill was kind enough to agree to let me film him (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=t7SunpIzeQU) playing my vintage Tele, so I had it with me. I can tell you that my guitar thru it just blew me away. I half jokingly made some comment about everyone leaving the room so I could be alone with it. (maybe you had to be there for that one).

If you're ever in NYC area (I'm about an hour north) you're more than welcome to come by and check it out.

Rich
