guitars and amps that play well together?

there's probably 50 similarly themed threads on this board, but I'm just wondering if y'all have had better luck with some pairings than others.

for example:

my 66 Princeton Reverb is a tone monster with certain guitars: Old silvertones with the Rowe/DeArmond pickups end up with some of the best results I've ever heard. My old Duo-sonic matches the amp well too. BUT I've had nothing but bad luck with a Telecaster into that amp. way too bright, full on ice-pick unless you squash the life out of the highs.

my 63 Silvertone 1482 (rather tweed deluxe-like) is darker, and LOVES the teles. it sounds rather ho-hum with the silvertone guitars or the duo-sonic.

lastly, I've got a 64 Airline 20w 2x12" with goofy fischer alnico speakers that tends to sound pretty awesome regardless of which guitar I play (though the brighter teles really shine through the amp). who'd have thought?

I'm more a rock or twangy rock player (think Old 97's), wondering what you more-experienced players hear when you mate specific guitars to specific amps?

I think my Blues Junior sounds better with single coils (My Telecaster) than with my humbucker guitar.

The 5E7 Weber Bandmaster 3X10 Combo seems to enhance every Geetar I put in front of it. A real "hit recording" type of Tone. It REALLY does all of the great sounds from the 1960's and early 70's. You just put everything except the Bass (3-4) on 11 and use the knobs on the Geetar.
That's it.
I had wanted to get a CeriaTone "raintrek" but the 5E7 does everything from the instrument too -so- I guess I'm there.

My MIM 50s Esquire with a Fralin pickup straight into a Mission 5E3.

This guitar sounds quite nice with my '68 Deluxe Reverb, but it just comes alive when plugged into the 5E3.
