53 tweed deluxe

Just picked one up at the Philly guitar show. Its a player,it does not have the original grille cloth,or top back panel, and there is a reissue jensen in it,but I got a good deal.I know someone in my town who has an old jensen,I think I could get it cheap.I at least know I can compare the two speakers, see which one I like. The amp does what I want and eally likes my tele.I may in the future look for the right top back panel and grille cloth.I plan on having fun with the amp.

A question

I know the tone control is also the on/off.Is the next control for the mic volume? Then the third instrument volume?.Also the inputs, facing the amp is the first one for the mic input.Ifeel stupid, ive been playing around with the amp and I really like it.Most of the numbers are wore off the control panel, this is the reason for the questions

The next two controls are the volumes for each channel.

Wide-panel tweed Deluxe? hmmm ..nice!

It's: tone control, instrument vol, mic vol. And the three inputs are: instrument, instrument, mic. Don't worry about which is which though, mic and instrument channels are same on that amp. For some stuff, wide-panels are creme-of-the-crop.

I found out today while working on the amp that the original grille cloth was covered over,it was still in good shape. It was a nice surprise. Now its time to stock up on some nos 6SC7 preamp tubes. It has some nos GE 6v6gt tubes in it.Any one here use nos rca 6v6gt tubes in thier tweed amps?I was thinking about rying some out but they are not cheap. Thanks Dave

I've got a load of NOS tunes in my tweed Deluxe clone, a Clark Beaufort. I'm using Phillips 6v6 power tubes and they sound great.

re 6v6 tubes

Angela Instruments has some NOS Philips for $35 a pair + shipping. Not sure how they compare to the old RCA's, but I've been using a pair in my SF Princeton Reverb and they are fine.
