Speaker Removal Resolved !!!
Trying to remove the defunct JBL from my 1976 Peavey Session.
It is the original speaker. That puppy won't budge at all. Looks like it is not bound by the mounting bolts. Tried a rubber mallet, but no joy. Figure the gasket is stuck on the baffle board. Didn't want to use a screwdriver to pry, may damage the baffle. Will pickup a putty knife and try that. Any suggestions??? jamie Last edited by ne4tt : January 1st, 2008 at 08:53 AM. |

Maybe a little WD40? Might loosen the gasket from the baffle board...
Cheers, Tim

Try using a hair dryer to heat up the stuck area.

There's usually a small gap between the baffle and the speaker frame caused by the gasket.
I get just the tip of my fingers in there, pull hard and hold it for a while. Usually the speaker will release slowly. You can hear the sound of the gasket separating from the baffle. If it doesn't work, I tray another spot on the circumference of the speaker.

Removed Speaker...Finally
Used the Bob Knight Method, from the SGF.
Dropped the cab from a foot high which did the trick. Speaker was seated on it's rim, and the gasket was completely compressed. Couldn't get the putty knife under the rim. Jamie |
