a tube question

i have some nice old 6sj7 tubes in an old amp. are these swapable 12 a preamp tubes?

I'm 99% certain the answer is NO, not at least without some major remodeling of the amp...

6sj7 is a pentode and I think octal socket

12ax7 etc are dual - triodes with 9 pin miniature sockets

thanks skeksis i was hopiing that i had some nice amazing 50 year old tubes that would give me a different type of preamp sound in another amp. i guess i should have pulled them and given them a visual inspection as well.
