speakers for bassman RI?

I know this has been discussed many times ,BUT I wasn`t paying attention.

The Jensen RI p10r`s , sound OK ,but I get past 5 on the volume the speakers ,cave in .

I would like a speaker that would let me get a little more amp chrunch . the jensens just get ratty sounding .

I know some people mix speakers in these, what do you all use?

4 weber p10q`s ,going to stay clean longer, and still sound vintage like ?

thanks

The earlier Bassman ri's came with eminence alnico 10's. They can take more abuse than the jensens. I think they sound better, and they are cheaper than the jensens. I own one with jensens, and one with eminences. Great amp. Zac

Do yourself a huge favor...

...and do what Tremo advised. You will not be sorry. 8)

I put a pair of Celestion vintage 10's in the bottom, keeping the Jensens in the top and I like it. The v10's keep the bottom tight and the P10R's give it up earlier on the high end. I bet a pair of Weber Blue pups would do well also.

If you want huge low end, put a pair of Weber P10Ns in the bottom two holes, and something with some sparkle like the P10V or P10P or P10Q in the top 2 holes.

Alnico baby, for the smoothest tone!!!!

thanks!!!!

I think Im going to go with the weber 10A125 (p10q)
I am sold on alnico,

I just want somthing ,balanced and vintage sounding
that doesn`t break up as soon as the p10r ri `s
these sound good ,until they give up.

thanks

racehorse,

Give Ted Weber a holler and tell him what sound you are looking for--he'll steer you in the right direction. Very helpful and a darn nice fellar.

The speakers he recommended for my tweed twin were just what the doctor ordered.

sig series...

I have Webers in most of my amps. Those P10Q's would be a great match. Also consider their (less expensive) signature series, if the cost for filling up a four-holer becomes a deal breaker. There are 2 different AlNiCo models for $50 ea.
