Recommendations for a Reverb Tank?

I'm playing through an AC15CC. I just upgraded the speaker to a made-in-England, 20-watt Heritage Greenback, which is it. However, as some here are aware, the reverb on the AC15 is pretty tepid, even when dimed. Even when it's fully cranked, there is not too much tonal difference between the sound when it's engaged and when it's off, running completely dry.

Can anyone recommend a better reverb tank to install that will fit in the Vox cabinet? Ideally, I'd like a wide ranging, Fender-style, lush reverb, but I can't afford to spend a ton. Suggestions?

What is the model and manifacture of the tank in the amp now? Is it a long or short tank? Also is the one you have now damaged in any way?

Huh? Are we talking about the same amp (VOX AC15CC)?

I upgraded the reverb tank on mine because simply put, it was pure crap. It just plain sounded bad. The Accutronics tank sounds much better than the one that came with it. As for the sound when it's engaged and off...there's a HUGE difference. I never turn mine up past 2 or 3...if you can't hear much difference between it cranked and off there's something wrong with your amp or you live in a cave!

Could the in/out leads have gotten reversed on your tank somehow?

No, it works, it's just not that strong, especially at low volumes. When the amp's cranked the reverb is more pronounced, but I still don't think it's very good. How did you figure out what Accutronics tank to get? Besides it being the short tank, what do I need to look for? Do I have to match ohms like with a speaker? I'm figuring the more springs the stronger the reverb...

You have to get the correct impedance, size, etc. There's a thread here that I posted that has the Accutronics part #:

Reverb Upgrade

Also, it's been noted that the reverb is stronger if you run your master volume higher than 1/3 up. You won't get splashy surf reverb out of it but it won't sound terrible anymore if you upgrade to an Accutronics tank
