AMp shopping input

Ok.You amp guys over here seem to all know what you are talking about. So let me run this by you guys.....

For the last few years,I was more or less the rhythm player, with a smattering of lead playing,in the band I have been in.Hard rock, metal, classic '80's rock mostly.

I have a Line 6 Flex 3 plus that I put a EVM 200w Mesa Boogie speaker in.

Does the job,100%.I put it through a 2X12 Marshall cab,and I get killer tones.

But Ive not been able to find a lead tone I am happy with.

Before that was a blue stripe Mesa MkIII Simulclass head.Bought it back when Boogie were "boutique" amps,no store sales.

That served me well for probably close to 15 years.

Now I want to go back to tubes again.I dont think that I can get the kind of high gain lead I am looking for out of my Line 6 without a pedal.I have never used a pedal in 30+ years of playing.Guitar-cord-amp.

I can tell you dead on what sound I am looking to get.Listen to the Van Halen "Fair Warning" album.Something Like that.

I could get there with the Boogie. My philosophy at the time was that VH was using a Marshall.Using that as a starting point, and having never found a Marshall that had a distortion that I didnt feel was too brittle,I did my research and figured that if I mixed the to EL34s,which of course are in Marshalls, with two 6L6 tubes it would smooth things out.
It did,the amp served me well with minimal hassles,a few sets of tubes every once in awhile of course.

Now it needs work, probably filter caps, has two scratchy pots, and needs tubes again.Id rather just take the dough and upgrade to something newer.

So I looked at Soldanos. That SLO 100 head would do the trick I think.Am I correct in assuming that the Soldanos are more or less a variant of an old Marshall?????
The price on those is out of sight. My other choice is a Diezel Herbert. They're like 6 grand, the wife would shoot me dead.

Looked again at Marshalls. There are about 4 billion different ones, and I really dont feel like sifting through them.

So Ive been looking on ebay.Seem like one of these Peavey 5150s might do the trick. Is this a totally new design,or could they be considered a poor mans Soldano?????

The long and short of it seems to be that for what I do,hard rock, metal, prog rock, jazz fusion, that one of the Peaveys may be the way to go.Maybe not the 5150,maybe a JSX,or one of the other models.

Ok then.If you can follow any of that, talk to me about an amp that I might be interested in checking out.So far tho,as far as bang for the buck is concerned, the Peaveys seem to be the way to go.

And also, any kit amps out there that might do what I am looking to do??????

Thanks guys, interested in any and all input.Really interested in hearing any input on the Peavy amps.
Mike
