Fender 1" octal in a Marshall?
As part of my ongoing freshening up of some of my amps, I'm replacing the tired output tube sockets.
I've got a stockpile of the 1" ceramic variants that fit Fenders. I'd like to put a pair in my Marshall ('82). Specs online are iffy - the replacements being sold for Marshalls are 1&1/16"-1&1/4" in diameter. To compound matters, it looks like the bolt-to-bolt spacing on the Marshall socket is smaller than the Fender ~1.5". The Marshall sockets look tired. Pin tension is okay, but not great. The terminals look like someone's 10th grade soldering project. I could put braid on 'em, but I'd rather just replace 'em. Pins 1-8 to ground don't look that great, either. Anyone try one for this application?
