what's your favorite gigable Tweed amp?

Seriously thinking about a tweed and wanted some opinions from some owners. I've only played thru a 5e3 and a tweed twin ri. I love the cranked tone but am somewhat concerned about a decent (volume wise) clean tone of the 5e3. I liked the twin also but seem to prefer the cathod bias more than the fixed bias tones. How bout it tweed owners?

I like the 35 watters, especially the bandmaster and pro. Lusting after a tweed twin also BTW. My pro type amp (Sewell Wampus Cat) now has a cathode/fixed switch installed, which gives the best of both worlds. On a loud enough stage, the juicier cathode bias sound can get lost in the mixed. So for gigs i'm usually on fixed. At home, usually on cathode setting.

My bandmaster type (Clark Tyger) has plenty of headroom plus a beautiful, singing overdrive sound. It's fixed bias, and I never find myself wishing it weren't.

My 1955 Twin-Amp (sorry Mad Dog). Just had the Jensen P12Q speakers reconed and she is sounding as good as ever. I am getting ready to slap a DeArmond onto my 1930s Kay Kraft "Venetian" and plug in. Can't wait to hear what that sounds like. On its own the guitar sounds almost brassy - kinda resonator like.

But I gotta admit, at my age even the Twin is starting to feel awfully heavy.

My new one that I got in March of this year.
Weber 5E7 Bandmaster.
It amazes me on a daily basis.
It's financially ethical (under 8 bills to my door) to bring Her to a Bar but I don't wanna do that.
Weber Kits when they're built properly become amazing Amplifiers.
Nothing "uber" on mine that I'm aware of, just "stock".

It'll keep up to anything Tweed regardless of pedigree.
I'm sold on Weber Kits.
As long as someone GOOD is building them.
No problemo.

I build and own a 59 bassman and Tweed super.

My suggestions try the following for clean and overdrive
Bassman
Tweed super
Twin - low powered
Double deluxe ( a tweed super has the same overdrive plus a good clean sound)

Just my 2 cents. By the way I will never get rid of any of my tweeds 'cause they have tone to the bone. Dig it.

Pros are great, wish I had one! I do own a 1956 5E8 Twin that I scored for a song quite a few years ago.. it's been re-capped, speakers re-coned, and also played heavily i.e. toured without one single problem, EVER.. this particular amp has been rented out for many many recordings because it sound great
any way you set the thing: put a mic on it and set the levels, and that's that! BTW I think the reissue Twins are OK, I'm not too put off by mass production considering what a REAL '57 Twin would go for at this point!! But I'd definitely gig with a tweed Pro if I had one.. plenty of choices these days for either with all the boutique amps and all..

For cleani-sh, 5E7 BAndmaster. Otherwise, let the 5E3 rip

I have too (Min'e's a Hullett-built clone). For anything bigger, I have a home-rolled Tweed Super. GREAT amp for louder gigs.

I like my '55 Tremolux! Just about any tweed Deluxe would do the trick too.
