Singing Marshall tones : '66 Allen/MV Bassman amp clip !!

I recorded this clip to a Steely Dan Backing track called "Home at Last". I used my '66 Allen/master volume modded Bassman head running into a 1x12 cab loaded with a Celestion V-30. I recorded this on the bass channel using the Plexi setting. I was able to drive the amp enough to get a nice singing plexi tone. Here's the link, and it's the first clip on the page.

Sounds goooooood to me!

Do you know specifically what kind of MV mod it is?

I'm not sure exactly what the master volume mod is,but my amp guy talked to David Allen of Allen amps about it. They talked about several ways to do it,and my amp guy tried it all the different ways and settled on this one. It really does allow you to push the preamp tubes hared to get some nice singing sustain. Whatever it is,it really works very well.

Very nice sound and great playing. I'm not truly convinced of the "Marshall-ness" but it's very cool sound none the less.
