I said "TwinReverb" please !!!

Just back from Germany and what was my backline amp ??, maybe it was in honour of the Beatles but they gave me an AC30, maybe it was in honour of the Beatles or something but i REALLY liked it !!, not sure which version it was but it really had a 'Twang' to it.

Just as i was clear in my mind about "NO more GAS" !!

That's a classic combo... a Tele and a Vox AC-30. I had a Vox AC-15 with 2-10's and I just loved that thing.

An AC 30 was my first Tele amp, till I saved up more cash, and it had a great sound. Wish I'd held onto it, but it was part trade in for a Pro Reverb.

I needed something that's real lightweight, that has a little more power than a Princeton Reverb. It weighs less than 25Lbs. so it's lighter than a Bassman head.

Hmmmm, i know there is a LOT of love here for Vox but i always thought they sounded like cardboard, maybe i just wasn't pushing 'em hard enough.

That one DID get me thinking though, hmmmmmm --- wonder what i could sell .................

Pete i wanted something lightweight too so bought this, its certainly light and sounds great but you know, there's something about a Vox .....

Bet you could get a pretty penny for that Jazz box!

I don't recognize that little amp with the rack handles.

I never really liked my toy Vox amp, the DA5, but some people love the thing. Like it's the greatest invention since buttered toast. And my nephew played his Eastwood electric resonator through it, and it sounded great. When I play through it, it sounds like crap!

Has plenty of fun effects like slapback echo, and flangers and chorus though.

You got moved to Amp Central!

I never heard of Jazzmaster Ultralight. It is listed on Ferden's website

http://www.fender.com/products//sear...tno=2277000000

I'd like to get a Twin Reverb before the price of the SF Twins becomes imposible, but I'd just be hording something I don't actually need.

I didn't notice that Sweetwater doesn't actually keep that Peavey I ordered in stock, so I have a little wait ahead of me. They called me up today, and said, here's the thing....

I used SS amps before I used tube amps, so I don't really have much of a problem with them. Most of them are packed with IC chips these days though. I liked how companies like Acoustic built them because those ones actually were roadworthy.

Acoustic made some great SS amps IMO

OOOps, should have posted here to start with !! *sorry*

I don't mind SS either, maybe it's a 'geezer' thing and i know it can be difficult but it really is better to judge sound with your ears and not your eyes !
I'm no 'Ultralight Jazzmaster' myself (very far from it) but the little amp has really fitted my needs, light easy to tote, usable tone and loud enough to annoy the band.
Those SF Twins are getting harder to find thats for sure, i usually ask the PA Co's that we use in Europe for a MKIIb Boogie (sometimes they get 'em) but usually a Twin of some description will work but these guys couldn't get one so i had the AC30.
Much as the Vox appeals i'm not sure i have the space for yet another 'must have', at the festival it was wound up real good and i do wonder what it would sound like at lower levels that i would usually play at --- guess i'll never know 'til i buy one.

The Shadows used them so they've got to be good.

Never saw him live, but Junior Brown sounds like he's playing through Twin Reverbs. So they can't be all bad.

John, you probably saw I have posted a lot about the AC30's lately. I love 'em and it's the "perfect" amp for me. I tried out a CC2X last Saturday and was blown away by how good it was, those blue alnicos certainly help to capture "that" Vox sound. They weigh in about the same as my TR though

I had one of those 2x12 JMP type Marshall combos for a while in the '70s. Sold it to get money for my Hamer. All those 2x12 combo amps are really heavy. It's one of the reasons I usually stick with heads & cabinets. The Marshall was a great amp, but that's what got sold off because it was too hard to move around. The shame of it was that I sold it to get a guitar that would have sounded great through it.

Junior Brown plays through two SFTR's at his shows. I've seen him a handful of times. He has mics in front of the cones and then they put a "custom" blanket over the entire setup-I'm assuming to minimize bleed.
