It's no $6 cabinet....

After lurking around here for a while, I felt inspired to try my hand at my first cabinet build. After $18 in lumber, and a few scraps laying around the house, I ended up with a cabinet that's actually not half bad. I put some old Sunn speakers I had laying around in there and fired up the camera. Here are some of the (required) pics. The first one is when it was first built with my '68 Bassman resting atop it. The other two are after a few finishing touches.
I think I'm getting the hand of this thing!

when I was 16 (1970) I built my first cab. In those days we didn't have any power tools, so I had to cut it all by hand. I used glue/screw strips and way over-engineered it, with screws on each side every 4 inches. Without a powered screwdriver! Man, my wrist still hurts when I look at a home-made box!

Yours looks nice; you did a good job and you had some fun, saved some money, and maybe developed a life-long hobby. I know I'm still building boxes 37 years later...

Good work, looks great!

Ive just made my first one and had a great time doing it. Now i just need a bass head!

I think you need a vox or marshall for some british flavour to go with your grill cloth.

"I love it when a plan comes together" - Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, the A-Team (1983).

There is nothing cooler than saving a pile of money and building gear yourself!

+1 on it looking very "Laney-ish" - or The Who. For some reason I expect some Clash tunes to be blaring out of it!

I like it!!!! Very MacGruber of you!
