First cab build!

Hi folks. A big thanks to all the posters who's threads ive plundered for info to make this cab, in particular Johnny Crash and Rob DiStefano. Your builds have really inspired me, and despite that you wouldnt put your name to my amateur hour woodworking Ive had a great time making this and have learnt some stuff too.

This cab houses a 1x12" 250w eminence speaker. basically the cheapest speaker I could get by a decent make (£40). The total for the wood was something like £8 and everything else I had lying around the house. So I was coming in at under £50 till I splurged £13 on a Fender amp handle. Aah well. This is going to be the cornerstone of my first real bass rig.

Now I just have to decide what to build next. Ill try for lighter weight next time (theres about half a stone of glue in this thing) and maybe some finger joints.

Its been a great experience and... hang on I forgot to fit the jack!

Cool!

Cheap bass head? Hmm... thanks to a suggestion by Tim, I've been using a Crate Powerblock as a bass amp quite often. Cheap, sounds good, can double as a guitar amp.

Nice cab build!!

They are brilliant for bass. I bought one to use as a backup guitar amp and my bass player tried it through his cab. To me it sounded a lot better than the bass amp he normally uses

Thanks JC for the kind words. Im trying to get hold of a powerblock but they are rare as hens teeth over here. Ebay is the only option for them. Are they still available stateside?
I think along with the Squier 51 they may be the most missed piece of discontinued gear of the last couple of years.
