Where are the good Blue Jewels?

I know they exist. I see them on other peoples amps! Every time I order a Blue Jewel lamp it ends up looking purple. I want Blue, like the Mesa Boogies Blue angel....

My "purple" ones are really washed out. They look like royal blue when you just look at them (before the bulb is on), and really washed out purple when turned on. I'm like you,I might even like the purple if it was a good one! I do have a good Green one...

Hi there Steve,

If my memory serves me right, I got my nice Blue jewel from Torres Engineering.

Mine went into a Fender 1997 'The Twin' ( black knob / Silver speaker cloth version ). Looks lovely.

Regards,

F.F.

Go to:

More specifically:

I've gotta green one on my latest build - an 18watt Marshall modded for 6V6's (5E3 power section) and built into a Champ chassis - I figured Green would go good with Red tolex and Bluesbreaker grillcloth :)

Stock Fender Blue Jewel. When the lamp is on IT IS blue- not purple.
Go Blue!

I've got a couple of blue ones that I'll never use. Wel, they look blue to me...

PM me, and we can determine a way to figure out what color they are, I'll give one to you if you need.

It's funny but I recognized that too. Amber looks very good on them. Maybe when I run out of blue I'll switch to Amber.

new jewels

I've noticed that the older jewels from way back have a thicker plastic jewel...almost like a slab. The new ones are thinner...stamped out...hence the washed out look.

fender...

i got fed up with some of the colored jewels out there a few years back and had a buddy of mine at a shop order some from fender. all of the fenders were really solid/bold colors with the light on and the generics were "washed out" in comparison...might be worth checking with someone at fender for a part #...they may still offer them???

I have 2 amps that have what appears to be a Fender jewel, but they are NOT... the threads are different. They are the same size & color of Fender jewels, look like they'll fit, then don't I suspect some metric/foreign somethin-or-'nother. Anybody have any idea where to get different colors of THESE jewels?

the amps:
Fender Champion 600 (that's right- NOT an "official" Fender jewel!!)
Genz Benz Black Pearl

There's a picture of 'em on the Fender site, which seems to be under construction.

Thanks everyone

I bought some genuine Fender Blues and a Green and a Amber too! I have a blonde amp (a Bluesland bandmaster copy) and I had never thought of Amber but what a great choice.

Take care
Steve

To Eman

Thanks for the offer. I had already placed my order when I saw your post, but I really appreciate it.

I've got a blue one; but it's only blue when you're looking from straight in front of it. Viewed slightly from the side/top/bottom, it's purple.

Possibly a blue tinted light in addition to the blue jewel would do the trick. Now for a source for blue tinted lights......
