Anyone ever use a Twin Reverb with only one speaker?

...I tried an experiment tonight whilst trying to satisfy a GAS attack...I was going to replace my stock Fender Pyle speakers in my Twin Reverb with something else...I had been contemplating some type of Jensen RI...anyway, I yanked the Pyles in anticipation of getting a pair of something tomorrow...I checked the closet and had one Celestion Vintage 30 gathring dust..."What the heck" i said...I installed it by itself in the TR...plugged a Strat in with a Nobels ODR-1 and it was pretty good, I liked it...then I Plugged in my Goldtop (with Van Zandt Trubuckers)...wow! absolute tone heaven! I didn't get to turn it up but I am really familiar with the Vintage 30 and know it really starts to shine when it is pushed...so I am thinking about either getting another Vintage 30 or leaving just the one in the amp...anyone else every run a twin (or other 2X12 combo) with only one speaker? another advantage is that the amp is now much lighter (I mounted the speaker opposite the trannies)

Oh yeah, get a new baffle made and throw in a Weber California 15, yep a 15! I put one in my '68 Twin, mainly for playing pedal steel through, but I totally dig it with my Tele, way more than the 2-12 set up.

Fender made a 1x15" twin in the early 70s. The Vibro-something, I think...? Eddie C. Campbell uses one as his main amp, with his mid-60s Jazzmaster. Sounds superb.

Vibrasonic Reverb had a 15 + TR Circuit

The Vibroverb also had a 15 but with a 40W circuit.

See Fender Field Amp Guide in Bridge Pickup Links.

All the time

I used to use a SFTR for a practice amp and it was so loud I couldn't get it to "sing" without an almost painful volume level. So what I did was pull out the 2 outer-most power tubes and disconnect one of the speakers. It was still way loud but almost quiet enough. The tone was better, too, at least for practice.
