tighting up tube sockets or adding holders ?
my siverface deluxe has some older power tubes, i tried a set of JJ,s they fit a lot looser, how are tube sockets tighted, or can the holders be added somehow like on the newer DRRI amps ?

JJ had made some tubes with smaller diameter contact pins than 'normal'. The smaller diameter pins causes a loose fit in the socket.
You might want to measure them....as compared to the other tubes. |

Next, remove the 6V6s and look into the socket holes. You'll see that there is an interference fit female section for each pin. Using a small rigid item (I use the point of a smalll knife or even a compass point) You could even use a round toothpick if you're worried about getting a shock; gently squeeze the socket tighter by bending that section. I would also add the tube retainers anyway. That will do the trick. Winnie
