My other $6 cab (lotsa pics)
Built just like the last one. MacGruber strikes again.
This one has a lightweight neodymium magnet Jensen Neo12-100 1x12" in it (the other has an Eminence Tonkerlite neo). I'll be posting a review on the speaker soon... nice sounds so far though!! This only cost me $6 in wood (3/4" solid pine). My crappy Craftsman fingerjoint jig is nearly useless now. Only tools used was my Router, a skillsaw, a jigsaw, a drill, a dremel tool, and screwdrivers. Here's some pics of it (blurry) and one of both of them. The amp on top is my freakish customized tweed Champ head build (I built her to accept a 6V6, 6L6, or EL34 and run on 4, 8, or 16 ohms): ![]() ![]()

I can't wait to put my Marshall DSL 100 head on them both like that...
Oh, for those that missed it - I built it with scraps and screws that I had on hand. I did not install a handle, I cut one into the top. My mission was to make the most inexpensive cab possible. I used old T-Shirts for the grill cloth, scrap plywood for the front baffle and rear panels, lotsa sweat, a few Newcastle Brown Ales, and a little bit of blood and blisters.

Oh yeah, you can see the Standby switch I added to my Champ head in those pics too, by the way :)

those are awesome, could you show a pic of the back and maybe how you wired it. I have been thinking of getting an extention cab and wouldn't rule out building one

I don't have a pic of the back of this new cab, BUT the one I built last week is nearly identical :) I used a dead transformer from a previous amp build and made its bell cover a jackplate by drilling a hole into it. I then used a jack out of an old Telecaster (when I upgraded to ElectroSocket jacks) and wired it to the jack. I soldered the other end of the speaker wires to those speaker sleeve clip ends instead of directly to the speaker terminals (in case I have to swap anything out or resell the speaker). ![]() ![]() As far as wiring specifics: Using speaker wire, solder the tab that comes from the jack's metal sleeve or ring (that surrounds the shaft of the input/cord) to the speaker's negative terminal. The other tab on the jack would then be wired to the speaker's positive terminal. You can solder the wire directly to the speaker terminals, just be carefull not to overheat the speaker by staying too long on it with the soldering iron.
