You might want to check out the Epiphone Triggerman 60 DSP. It has what they call "E-valve tube tone circuitry" and it really does sound like a tube amp especially on the clean channel. I gig with this amp and use pedals thru the clean channel and can get a wide variety of sounds. It's very lound and also has some cool features like a DI out so you can run it directly thru a PA if you choose. The best part is that you can get it for under $300. Here's a fairly thorough review: http://www.imuso.co.uk/directory/rev...man-60-dsp.htm

A Nashville staple for many years - an old Peavey Special 130...very clean, stupidly loud, and actually sound pretty decent.
I've seen Albert Lee playing (many times) through a Peavey Classic Chorus...played a few jobs with Rick McCray playing his tele through a Peavey Session 400...Saw Jerry Reed (not THAT one - the one that played with George Jones for a while) playing live with a pair of Peavey Bandit 65s...all of these amps are generally available for pennies on the original dollar, and are pretty close to bullet proof (and take pedals very well) Just another opinion...there's a million of em.

Jes' m.h.o., but there's no SS amp than can compare to a good tube amp.
That said, the Tech 21 Tmk 30 or Tmk 60 might be satisfactory for you.... |

I'm with maestrovert on this question. As far as SS that are very clean so you can hear your pedals... maybe you'd want to stay away from ones that have "Transtube" or tube emulation circuitry... then again, I don't know why anyone would want a SS amp or an amp that doesn't sound tube for guitar (I can see maybe for bass, acoustic instruments, and/or pedal steel). Some folks actually prefer SS, so I just don't understand it I guess... although my Crate Powerblock sounds pretty damn good and for 5 lbs it'll be my backup amp 100% of the time - so do what makes YOU happy :)

the first amp i owned is a made in USA Peavey Transtube 15W, which i bought new in 1996... it's an awful amp. Last year i put a Jensen speaker but it didn't change more than 5% the whole sound. A friend of mine who's teaching el.guitar uses the Tech 21 Trademark 30 for his lessons... i dont' like it at all, though i've found many good reviews for it. but, IMHO it's lifeless and toneless.
I'd like to stay away from emulation cause it doesn't seem to work properly with pedals. I have a Vox AD-30VT (which is very nice) for modeling. i do a research for SS and not for tube amps cause i need an amp that is not fragile and doesn't need to change the tubes. of course i love the tubes sound though! i think that the Epiphone Triggerman 60 seems the most interesting approach til now... |

No regrets...

I use to swear by my old Fender M-80 solid-state amp for years. But the "sound" just wasn't there...so I bought a Peavey Delta Blues, and I haven't looked back since! |

I wonder if fellow Greek Nick Fanis might have some advice for you? You might want to send him a Private Message and see if he has some suggestions.
