Lopo Cabs
I ordered a 1-12" closed back Black Lopo with a Blonde Grill.
I'm excited. I also ordered a 50 watt 12" Jensen MOD speaker from TubeDepot. I've really enjoyed the MOD that I put in my Champ. I decided to try one in the Lopo. I googled "Jensen MOD" and found TubeDepot by accident. What a fantastic website they have. I had always bought tubes locally from Bob the technician at my favorite local shop but TubeDepot has everything. Some of the books on amp building even looked tempting. I bought one of their tube T-Shirts. I'm a fool when it comes to an odd guitar related T-Shirt. Keep 'em guessing! Waiting for the Fed Ex man...............

Sweet!
I love my mod 8; great sound for a price you couldn't beat with a stick.. I came across the Lopo site a few weeks ago. My bro and I have been thinking about picking up their 2x12 convertible and or the 1x12 large cabs. Keep us posted, I cant wait to hear what you think of the speaker and cab combination! |

I have a Lopo 1 x 10 closed-back cabinet.
It is black with a blond cane grill. The build quality is quite good for the low price ($99, plus $24 shipping). I put a Weber CVC10 (Vintage Chicago) speaker in it. Combo sounds aces with my re-tubbed Epi Valve Jr. head amp. Steve |

I bought this for my Valve Jr.
The home built 2 x 8" is on ebay. Sounds great but looks............???? I'm fussy. I have an unusual Fender 1-12 and the home build for sale and I'm buying a better cab. Trading 2 for 1.

I built my own 2 x 12 cabinet and a custom cabinet for a Fender Deluxe. Believe me, when buying parts and covering in small quantities, you will pay more for parts than these guys are charging for fully built cabs. Next time I need a cabinet, I will be buying from Lopo instead of building.

I've got a black 2x12 cab with cane grill that I purchased from them a couple of months ago, the quality was pretty good and the price was excellent. One problem I had is the speakers are front loaded. I have a set of weber alnico's and I wanted to mount them from the back to keep equal pressure around the speaker ring, so I had to remove the T-nuts to mount them from the back, a little work, but worked out for the best in the end.
They do tell you on their site that the speakers are front mounted, but I just didn't see my problem until I tried to mount the speakers, just a pet peeve of mine. They come with switchcraft jacks and 18-gauge wire for those that are wondering.

Outstanding cabinet and it sounds killer with those speakers as an extension cabinet for my Peavey Classic 2X12 combo.

Lopo Cab Construction
I had never heard of Lopo Cabs before this thread, so checked out their web site. Nice looking cabs at a great price! I wondered about what the cabs were constructed of and emailed them to find out. Below are my questions and their answers for anyone that is also curious.
Question: What are your cabs made from (type of wood/MDF/plywood/etc)? Do the cab corners have butt, dado, or finger joint construction? Answer: They are made from plywood with dado joints. Question: On your closed back cabs, I assume they can be "opened" to install the speaker? From the pics on your web site for a 1x12 closed back, I can't see any seams for the back panel. Answer: The grills are removable for access to the inside and the baffle. |
