Opinions on T Elliot Velocette 1x10"
What's the overall take on these little 2 EL84 amps ? I've heard they tend to be too bright (the 1x10" Celestion I'm looking at). I'm looking for a good overall home use, small jam amp and I've been interested in these since the big hoopla started a few years ago (when they were all on the "blow out" sales).
Basically, I'd like a decent cleanish tone with some depth, not an icepick amp that can't be tamed (especially with my tele). So, am I being foolish thinking a 1x10" amp will give me these tones ? Any comments appreciated. Thanks, JK

Love mine....
I have a few vintage classics and I still plug into my TE 1x10. It's a great little amp - destined to be a classic. Some early ones did have transformer problems which accounts for the reputation...but that was not the norm.
Mine's been flawless since day one. They do run hot so expect to change the tubes every 6-9 months....and I usually run mine with the volume flat out with the tone on zero. Amazing tone...tiny box....reverb not required with a tone that big. PS...the early Gibson Goldtones were the exact same amp (even said Trace Elliot on the board)...later Gibson messed with them a bit but they're still good.

Gibson GA15
I have the Gibson version, and it is a very bright amp, but you can roll off your tone control to taste. As a bedroom amp, it will do all you want and it is loud enough for your jam scene. It will eat tubes at a rather high rate, and if you want distortion playing around the house, I hope you have understanding people living with you. I have found it a well built great sounding little amp and I love it played with my Bassman/15 Weber combo. I wish they made a 5 watt version. I was lusting after a Champ this weekend so I could distort around the house.
