Tube replacement suggestions for H.R. Blues Deville w/410's
This question maybe posted but I could'nt find it.This will be the first time I have replaced the tubes and I don't have a clue.
I know a great amp tech, but he only deals in certain brand names but will put in whatever I bring him. Thanks to anyone for your help. Ron |

I really liked Svetlana 6L6GCs in the power section and a 12AX7LPS in the first preamp slot when I had mine.
Lotsa folks have recommended JJs, which I never tried in the Deville, but in my Pro Reverb they sound as good or better than the Svets. |

I recently found myself
in the exact same position. I have an HRD, the little brother to your amp. It blew a power tube and an AX7 in the last few months. I took it to my tech. He put in Electro Harmonics Russian mades. I am pleasantly surprised by the results. I ended up with prettier mids, sweeter highs, and better drive/warmth at low volumes. The downside, is that the tone is fatter, I prefer it tiny. But I can work around that.

If you're changing tubes to improve the sound of your HRDV410... I have one and the greatest thing I did was change the speakers. When I was going through the madness of upgrading tubes, I went through these 12AX7's: Electro-Harmonix, JJ/Tesla, Sovtek, etc. The diiference in the sound was minimal at best and I was still not satisfied, so I then addressed the speakers. I use MojoTone 70watters, but 2 dozen folks around the board have their own favorites. What a vast improvement. (Thanks to all on the TDPRi that assisted with that project!) FWIW, I put Sovtek 5751's in the first two slots, which reduces the gain and something Telefunken (AT7?) in the inverter slot. These, coupled with the higher wattage speakers have made this amp into one I'll keep for a long time. It's MUCH Good luck and have fun! Adam |
