Calling Tweed Champ Owners

Can someone tell me if they have tried a 5V4 rect in their Champ instead of the 5Y3. I've been told they are "better" than the standard 5Y3.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Oz

OT I think the Aspen Pittman rule applies here.

Unless your tech has gone through the amp, a change in power structure could blow something like a resistor out.
If it sounds great leave it be, the Western Electric circuit was built to be bullet proof. I got my '56 back in '86 and
I only play through it on Sundays but it's still totally stock
(and kinda beat). I was lucky enough to be befriended my someone who let me play through 20 of 'em before
I settled on mine. If it sounds good don't mess with it, you wanna beef up a Champ grab a silverface and use that they're plentiful and there's probably 250,000 of 'em floating around in the ozone.
