Twin Reverb Speaker options

My Twin needs new speakers. Im thinking Celestion Greenbacks. After a good indie/britpop rock sound. Any thoughts?

my email to eminance:

Hi There, I need advice on the proper Eminence speaker for me. I play a Fender '65 Twin Reissue. I like the Twin tone (100 watts, open back, two Jensen C12K 12" speakers, 8 ohm, 99.1 dB SPL) but have the following issues:

- ice pick treble with my Telecaster
- beamy; even with the volume on 2 the sound will blow past me and kill the guys on the other side of the room
- speakers can't handle the bass excursions when my NFB loop is disconnected (it can 'fart' out)
- sounds thin with distortion

Can you recommend a pair of Eminence speakers to fix this up? Something that can handle a flabby bass input, tame the telecaster highs, not be too beamy and breaks-up warmly?

their next day reply:

Thank you for emailing Eminence. I recommend Swamp Thang from our Patriot series. It is a very popular Fender upgrade speaker. It has a big, thick, chunky tone overall, very efficient, good sustain, touch sensitivity. The bottom end is well pronounced with warm mid detail and a smooth top end. This is mainly impart to a 2" voice coil diameter. It also handles pedals/effects extremely well. The only down side is that it will make your already heavy Twin even heavier.

My initial thoughts are you have the wrong amp. For Britppop you need somethng Voxish with a top-boost type sound. Certainly something brighter. I would be looking at G12-65s.

Greenbacks are not recommended because they are only 25w or 30w RMS speakers.
