Help with vintage Rola speakers
Hi folks! I'm a new guy here but I feel right at home already!
I am looking at trading a pair of V30s for what are some old Rola speakers. The guy I'm trading with calims they are 8 Ohms and 20 watts. The only writing on them says Rola Philco 285. I know that the 285 is the Rola manufactuing code. Has anyone ever seen any speakers like these? Sorry I don't have pics. I have yet to see them first hand. Any help would be appreciated. Davy |

If the model is Rola C12P, PX or PEG they should be 20 watts or thereabouts. They are not bad speakers, but far more rounded- sounding than V30s. The alnicos are nice. You may or may not like them. They would want to be in perfect condition and I'd be wanting to try before buying to ensure there are no cone-cry issues or similar.
Rola merged with Plessey and eventually Celestion. I had some Rola speakers from '74 but never seen any later.
