Tweed Twin is born

Fellow ToneGeeks:

Please pardon yet another shameless self promotion.

Just finished my low power tweed twin. Chassis was built using Sprague caps, cloth covered wire (so what, it's very easy to work with) and Mercury Magnetics iron. Speakers are Weber alnico P12N and NT, cab was built by a local custom woodworking shop, tweed and grill cloth by moi. Sorry, no porn at this time; maybe later. And yes, I realize the cab is not per original specs-it's very close to the high power twin dimensions.

Played it along with my new-to-me Jimmy Vaughan signature Strat, also in the picture, at a private party this past Sunday and I was extremely pleased with both. The strat, btw, is the best sounding one I've owned. I cannot believe how different it sounds from my '95 Am Std I got rid of over the winter. Much brighter than the '95 and has that "vintage" sound. All 5 switch positions sound great-finally a strat I like. The soft-V neck is very comfortable.

Crappy picture of both available here: http://mywpages.comcast.net/tweeddel.../TweedTwin.JPG

Don'tcha just love new gear?

Tom

Definitely need more pics !

Darn...besides a nice EL84 fired DR. Z, the tone of a tweed twin is my fav (I love Clapton's last 10 years of material with those Tweed Twins...smooth, round, fat and oh so juicy).

Nice job...and I agree on the JV strat too...had one, that neck is to die for.

LOL, $110 is a start. Only seven more payments, just to cover parts!!

Thanks.

Had another chance to play it yesterday at rehearsal-it's pretty sweet sounding, especially cranked.
