Info on Sovtek 12AX7WXT+ tubes?

The Tremolux I mentioned previously has three of these in it...doing a Google search I cannot find very much real info on them.

I will probably change them out with some Amperex 7025's I have, just haven't had the time to experiment yet, but curious about the Sovtek's...thats a lot of letters after the "12AX7" !

Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions. Mine? I don't like the WXT at all. I much prefer the 12AX7WB. But, again, that's my opinion. I have a joke with the local mucic retailer that the 'WXT' part must refer to the fact that the tube has 'way extra treble'. They just seem bright and piercing.
Here is another of my opinions. Keep in mind that my opinions aren't worth the paper they are printed on. Anyway, I have a good friend who is very fussy about NOS tubes. He spent his allowance for the next 206 years buying some NOS Mullard ECC83's from AES. They were all noisy. AES doesn't warranty against microphonics or noise; nor should they. Just a heads up. I buy NOS output tubes, but preamp tubes are a horse of a different color. I use the 12AX7WB or from JJ/Tesla, or from Ei. They all work fine, and at a fraction of the price of NOS.

WXT+

Personally I have no amplifier use for the WXT+ or the WA as they are more suited to helping me make scope adjustments on my varmit rifle. The WXT's are spiky treble to the MAX, definitely not to my taste. The WA's are just cheap junk that get ordered by the bean counters at large manufacturers to fill a 9 pin socket. Now the WB is a good tube as the LPS.

Absolutely, Big Cookie. The weird part is, since the late 16th century, all 12AX7's are actually the 7025, with a spiral filament. So why call a tube 12AX7LPS? Marketing? Who knows. I know I buy the 12AX7WB for cheap, and they're consistant, quiet, and reliable. That's all you can ask.
Not that it matters, except in critical applications like high-end audio phase inverters, but those 12AX7WB's also seemed nicely balanced from side-to-side (when tested on any high-end tube tester). Just don't buy them in the super-duper bulk crates from New Sensor. I did; quite a few were 'dead', and a handful were 'flat'. Luckily, NS exchanged them, but it was still a drag :(.

Re: Info on Sovtek 12AX7WXT+ tubes?

i have recently been playing around with tubes in my Mesa F30 and, to my ears, the EI EL84s are fantastic sounding...i was using either JJs or EH 12A_7s and was happy but then i tried an EI ECC83 (12AX7A) and decided that it was my new favorite! i think it has a nice tight bottom with smooth mids and no screechiness at all in the highs...i have to try it out in a few different amps to pass final judgement but so far, i am impressed with it...has anyone else tried these preamp tubes?

Just goes to show - I like the WXT+ in one amp I own. It gives a bright kick to a dark-sounding amp. It is quieter than a whitebox WA.
