New Amp, Confused and need help

I jsut got a new amp. Its a fender hot rod deluxe. It plays and sounds like an absolute dream. i have only one problem. i have no idea what the deal is with the volume knobs. theres one that says volume and one that says master. i dont understand. i could really use the help with this guys. anything would be greatly appreciated.

Volume should be your gain or overdrive.

Master should be the actual loudness control :)
