Hissing with what - guitar plugged in, volume on zero, no guitar?

If the noise is in the amp with nothing else plugged in, ot he guitar with volume backed off, and the volume up, a noisegate won't do much to help. It may be a number of other things, such as tubes - may be going away, or if it's an early one the caps might be going home.

A high-pitched buzz might be a heater wire a bit loose or not properly soldered.
