410 cabinets?
Anyone know of any decent 410 cabinets on the market right now? Seems like everyone sells 412s (overkill for me), but I can't find any 410s out there. My idea was to use it with a low-powered head.

I've been using a GK BackLine 4x10 BASS cab for guitars. I think it sounds great, even through it's a bass cab, Heck, the Bassman is a bass amp (originally). The GK BackLine stuff is also pretty cheap: under $300. They have a 2x10 for $190.

I picked up a used Peavey 410E cab a couple of years ago. It's wired for 16 ohm mono or 8 ohm stereo, and handles mega power with the stock speakers.
It's very well built, tweed, but they stopped making them quite awhile ago. I like it, and one of these days I may change out the speakers to something better. Good cab if you can find one. |

Weber VST
If you want open back, from Weber VST you can order a tweed Bassman cab with no chassis cutout for not much over $200. Then load it with whatever speakers you want.

I looked at the extention cabs on that page after reading your suggestion. They look pretty good. I'm a little concerned about any wiring that could be involved, and getting the right speakers with the right ohms to match up with the head and all that stuff.

Heck, just go to Celestion.com, then go to the "Ask Dr Decibel" section... They have very simple drawings to show how to wire in series, or parallel, and it'll show the ohms of each speaker and how many ohms they will end up in total. |

I've got one of the Carvin VIntage Series 4x10's. Great little cab. I've swapped 2 of the Carvin VL-10's for 2 Eminence Ragin Cajuns. Punchy with bottom now. Marshall used to make a 4x10 closed back that's a neat cab too. You can find those used here and there. The Carvin 4x10 is a little hard to find. They discontinued them about 5 years ago I think.

I own a Carvin Vintage Series 4x10 too. It is a good little cab, a lot smaller then some 4x10's I've seen. When I bought it the speakers were shot on it so I have it loaded with 4 Jensen C10Q's. I've always dug the sound of 10's more so then 12's.

marshall cabs
I second the suggestion of an old Marshall 4x10. I used to use these all the time with a JCM900. I think they had Celestion Vintage 10s. Far better cabinet than their crappy 2x12 cabs..No idea what the new ones are like. The only problem with it was that it was very directional. A 4x10 open back cab would be just the ticket. The thing is 4x10 cabs aren't as popular as the "manly" 4x12, so they're harder to find, but usually cheaper. Good luck.

I just build my own now.
An open backed 1x15" in tweed to match the exact width of my homemade tweed Twin head? Had to build it... Ended up building 6 cabinets now :) |

Antique Electronic Suply has some. Go to guitar amp parts and then cabinets.
