Weber speaker for Tweed Champ?

I was just looking around the Weber site for an 8" replacement speaker for a tweed Champ, but all the 8 inch speakers said "will not fit in a tweed champ". I'm I blind, or just disappointed?

Has anyone tried the alnico signature series in a Champ? I'd think a signature P8R would be the cat's meow.

IMO, the best speaker I've found for a good working Champ is the Weber 8A125 (P12Q). Just the right balance of clean and hair when fed by a nice Tele or Strat. YMMV.

Re: Weber speaker for Tweed Champ?

Tremo, I have an alnico sig 8 in the champ i finished this summer. I've no personal experience with Champs other than this particular one, but I can say there's a certain BFSR and 5E3 that have seen alot of down time lately. The sig 8 alnico has all the fine attributes of other alnicos plus the inimitable snap that only seems possible with an 8.

Jimmiboots, the sig alnico 8 has a pretty small-looking magnet cover... you might just call Weber and double check on whether this one won't fit a tweed Champ.

Thanks y'all...

Allright! I was sure he had to have one, I was about to cry...

I like Webers so much I'll probably buy one of every speaker that will fit, put wing nuts on the baffle, and swap speakers for every song.....

you gotta stick with the weber sig series models. other weber models wont fit. good news is thne sig series are cheap. but not cheap sounding. they sound great. i had a weber c8ss cermic in mine and it sounded terrific. I eventually sold the amp to a TDP member (actually a trade) and he liked it a lot with the ceramic, but then got the alnico sig series and said it was even better.

for the price, i'd get 1 of each and try 'em both. you could always sell the 1 you decide against and not lose too much $$.
