That guy looks like a chick, but I tell you what, he can play guitar... I'm not even into his music overall. No one bats an eyelash at how some of our Tele heroes look (especially if they're overweight) - the sound and talent are more important to us. When he wants to though, he can really wail. |

oddly
Oddly,
The other two amps don't even have anything plugged into them.I guess that would explain why they're not mic'd ,huh? |

No, Celine Dion is Goofy. Prince is weird.
Still he's the funkiest man on the planet, I vote to give him all the slack he wants. Back away from ridiculing our cultural icons and I'll give you a pass on Keanu Reeves.

Prince is just Prince...goofy is one way to put it.
Though I don't care for his music overall, I've been sucked in by a few of his tunes, and he's got major talent. I don't think I'd want to meet him and hang out, though. |

It looks like the Orange on the far right is turned on though, unless it's just light catching the jewel.
I've never listened that much to Prince but by all accounts he's a very talented player. The school I'm attending right now, about 10 years ago I think I was told started to get in cahoots with Paisley Park Studios. The story goes that they wanted to offer internships to all the graduates in the recording arts program. Well from what our instructor told us that is no longer true. The first intern to go there I guess made quite the impression on Prince. He worked there for a month doing grunt wrong around the studio and was getting fed up with it. Finally they got word that Prince was coming in to lay down some tracks. The intern was a huge Prince fan but was told, don't say anything to do anything by the first engineer that he should just stand there and pay attention to how he works the board and what now. Well during the session the kid put up enough of a fuss, making sly comments about how the person was recording and Prince noticed and called him into the live room. The intern goes on for a length of time saying how much of a better engineer he would be and how much he loves his music and what not. All Prince says is "go get me some ice cream". Now this pissed the kid off and he kind of stormed out right before having Prince say "make sure it's mint chocolate chip". He comes back a while later with the ice cream, Prince calls him in again, the kids like, see I got you what you wanted and you know I can record you exactly how you want and this and that. Prince says, well wait, what did I tell you to get me, the kids like ice cream, see I got it, Prince is like no, what did I tell you to get me, what kind did I ask for. The intern just stood there with a blank face. He ended up bringing back vanilla. Moral of the story though is, if you ever buy Prince Ice cram make sure it's mint chocolate chip hah. Needless to say the intern was fired that night and Paisley Park has yet to return any calls about future internships or the such. If you’re wondering the school I’m at its Full Sail College in Orlando, Florida. All they teach is media arts, they have bachelor degrees in film and show production and touring; that kind of stuff. They are supposed to be one of the top schools for this field though and boast quite the alumni. I’ll have my associates of science in recording arts in one year, well 11 months now.

I'm a fan.
I'm gonna go out on a OT limb here... Follow me for just a second. Many women (or what-have-you) love to dance. Prince plays music anyone can dance to... Not only that, his lyrics are occasionally suggestive of sexual play... So, you take your significant other (or what-have-you) to a Prince concert. You get to see a great band... he kills on guitar... get to dance a little and go home with a woman (or what-have-you) that has been worked-up to a frenzy by a strange little guy that bears more than a passing resemblance to Little Richard. I think discussion of how weird this guy looks is somewhat beside the point. As far as I'm concerned, what's NOT to like. :-) |

+1000 to that! I think "goofy" is in the eye of the beholder. Entertainers are supposed to look/act differently than the rest of us. That's how you can distinguish them from the cable guy. |

I have to agree though. Prince is one talented guy. And not to mention a definite gospel of funk.

He has chops. He's just out there. "Out there" is relative. I think David Crosby is a regular guy.
I'm just happy that Prince is playing a Strat. Remember the big guitar that looked like a question mark or some weird symbol? Ouch. I think that he's only plugged into one Orange. He doesn't seem to have the amps daisy chained.

Yeah, David's a "regular guy": Decades of crack and heroin abuse, a liver transplant resulting from drug abuse, multiple convictions and jail time resulting from drug possesion or posession of weapons, restraining orders from the ex girlfriends he's assaulted and/or threatened...
Prince, on the other hand, uses neither drugs or alcohol. He has written, recorded, and published more music than most us have listened to, and has fought a nasty legal battle with a record label (Warner Bros.) and won. I have nothing but respect for the man. |
