NEW AMP?

So i'm wondering if I really need a peavey classic 50 410. Its huge. I'm thinking of selling it. I can get the price I paid ($400) and put it towards a new much smaller amp. Here is what I'm thinking. Peavey Delta Blues~Blues Junior~ or Pro Junior. PLEASE help me out here. thanks

I like the Pro Junior myself, just because I like the simplicity of the two-knob circuit and the sound.

I think the Classic 50 sounds superior to the Delta blues...I can't see why you would even considor it...they both weigh a ton.

Do you mic your amp when you play?

If so the huge amp can be a hassle.

I just bought a Pro Junior and my Hot Rod Deluxe and extension cab have been in the basement ever since.

I'm 42; I've had all-tube 4 x 12 1/2 stacks and I've had a Champ. I dought that I'll ever buy a tube combo bigger than 20 watts. A 20 watt amp turned up to 5 is LOUD.

Just enough is plenty. Way too much is a pain in the A**.

My 2 cents.

John

Heres the deal, I just saw a friend of mine play a show with a pro junior. I fell in love all over again. I've played them before and wanted one. I decided to try the peavey instead. (playing alot of guitar thru a 410 deville at the time)! The sounds that come out of that PJ when its pushed were amazing. To really push the classic 50 you are playing at a really oud level. I though of one of those volume box thingys but I'm not sure if that'd work or not.

I don't know if the Delta Blues is a "much smaller" amp....but it'd definitely be my choice of the ones listed. The BJ can be modded into a decent amp, but IMO the Delta Blues is a great amp as is and very versatile. You really get a lot of bang for the buck with features. That big 15 puts out some nice tone.

The Delta Blues amp comes in two version a 2x10 and 1x15. Circuity on both of these amps is pretty much the same.

I have a Delta Blues. It has a good clean sound, but is way loud by the time it breaks up on the clean channel. It sounds good, but I think it comes up short on the low end.
I don't think the lead channel is that great. The tremolo is cool, but the volume drops when you engage it.
I played it last night for the first time in over a year when my regular amp smoked a power tube. Worked fine, and the band said it sounded good but I didn't have half as much fun as I usually do with my Winnie Thomas 5e3. Too much work to get good and dirty at reasonable volumes in my situation. Sometimes it's tough to tame the little 5e3 beast because it is loud and has very little headroom, but it sounds more rock and roll to me. Definitely more girth to the tone than the Delta Blues.
The Peavey is reasonably light for it's size- 45 lb.
