Gomez "G" Amp?

Anyone have one of these? Great write up in the most recent Vintage Guitar. The sound clips on the Gomez site are all surf-ish though.

I currently have a SF Pro Reverb that does Fender cleans better than anything I've ever played through.

But...
the thing gets way too loud before you can get any nice breakup.

So I've been considering a smaller amp (around 15 watts, 1 speaker) that gets some nice cleans. I've thought about some of the Allen amps, and the Winfield Rosco. I have a MMB that gets great cleans+brealup, but it can't keep up with a drummer volume wise. A more powerful MMB would do the trick maybe. The Gomez almost seems like a 6L6 MMB.

Seems I've read that the amp builder is a TDPRI member...anyone know his handle?

Any comments?

CancerLeoCam is the amazing Dario Gomez.

I've played the amp and I can guaran dang tee you that it does more than surf! I play mostly country and my good friend plays blues/swing and we played that amp for 2 hours hard at Buffalo brothers and we never got tired of the combinations we could get. It is a beautifully made and great sounding amp...

I get the feeling CancerLeoCam is a giant surf guitar freak... so that may be why they seem to be designed for that kind of thing... BUT

Those amps are NOT just "surf amps".

They've got the classic Fender amp mojo, AND they're built in Orange County - the same county where Fender built his in the beginning - perhaps that may explain Dario's surf guitar fetish as well as his reverb :)

I played it right around the time it first came into Buffalo Bros. Very nice amp. Good response, excellent tone, geat reverb. It's no Savage, but a fine amp anyhoo.

Seriously: Gomez is a very sweet amp and the price is definitely right.

Thanks for the props guys. You're too kind. Yeah, I love instrumental/surf stuff and was the prime muse for building the amp. I can't really say much more about it here as it would easily move into advertising territory. I want to stay a member on the board so anyone interested can contact me offline. Thanks again Johnny Crash and getbent (Stylistics rule!...was listening to them again today).

Dario,

The "G" amp looks great, I love the idea of a low wattage amp with a 15" speaker. I'm just wondering, do you have any plans to make an amp without reverb & tremelo? Thanks!

The one thing I neglected to say is that it is really light. I just got home from practice and lugging in even my relatively light amp (tone king imperial) made me think how nice and light the G amp was.

Thanks for all the replies. It's going to be hard to decide, but the "G" definitely sounds pretty nice.

CancerLeoCam....I'll forward my remaining questions direct to you. Thanks.
