JJ Tubes or Electro Harmonix Tubes?

I'm replacing the Tubes in my amp and I went with the Electro harmonix Tubes......6L6 12AX7 and 12UA7 tubes.... Someone told me they would have used the JJ tesla Tubes instead....is there a real big difference in sound? As long as they are better than the Fender Groove Tubes that were in the amp......

Someone will always tell you to use something else. Do the EH's sound good to you? If so that's all that matters.

I'm not sure I haven't heard either of them...I am having them put in right now..it's at the shop....I'm sure they will be fine....I was just wondering if there was a huge difference in sound.

They're both very good tubes. JJ's tend to have a little more output and are gainier in my experience, but are very good and super reliable and consistent. EH sells a good tube ,too...I have their 12ax7's in my smaller amps.

If you're happy with what you have I'm not sure I'd go through the expense of changing a whole set of tubes.

I replaced the JJ preamp tubes in my BFSR with TungSol reissue 12ax7's and NOS mullard/Brimar 4024 (I think) and the amp has never sounded so good... this is after a tuneup and new TAD power tubes.

I followed suggestions on this page...

JJs tend to have a bit more mid-range than other tubes, they sound sweeter/warmer, but less bright.

The place where I buy my tubes has some great info:
