Silvertone Model No. 1392 question
Purchased a '50s Silvertone Model No. 1392 about six months ago, and what a fine little amp it is - 12-inch speaker, tremolo, nice fat clean tones and breaks up really nice for overdriven tones.
Anybody have any idea of the power output rating of these little jewels (I'm guessing about 15)?

Having a tube compliment would be good, but it'd still be a guess. If it's a two 6V6 amp, likely 10-15watts.

Yup, 2 6V6's. Thanks for taking the time to post!
And you're right, 4mal, we surely don't want the word to get out on old Silvertones!

I had one of these I rescued. It was the dirtiest object I have ever bought.
Must have been in a barn 40 years. Mine was made in 1957. Had to replace nearly every resistor and cap in it as well as the rotten Rola speaker and the output transformer. BTW there is a schematic out there floating around that has a two values for one of the resistors. One makes too much gain, the other is correct. Once I fixed mine up it did sound great. Tremelo was great. Really about 10 watts, not 15..Oh chassis was so full of dirt I had to wash it out in the sink. It turned out beautiful once I cleaned it up and fixed it. |

The 1392 amp was the next model up, and it had almost everything you needed for serious sound customization: tone, tremolo strength/speed (and footswitch!), 3 inputs, and 10 watts into a nice 12" speaker. All that was missing was bass/treble controls... but tone would do for the price. Plug in and get your trem speed set to the tempo you're playin' that Bo Diddley beat and look out!
Introduced: Fall/Winter 1957 at $67.95 as the 57D01391L Through its career, it was : 57H01392L 57G01392L Retired: Spring/Summer 1959 at $67.95 as the 57Y01392L |

I never got to hear the stock speaker as it was damaged and the output tranny was toast. I replaced the speaker with a Jensen reissue C12 that can take at least 25watts. I think the speaker was a 4 ohm but when I replaced the tranny with an 8 ohms tranny and speaker.

The 2x12 your speaking of is the "1484" and I believe is rated at about 60 watts. You'll still find these Silvertone amps on Ebay and Craigs List and the sound is real good as they are point to point wiring and I believe based on some of the old Fender amp schmatics. Can certainly highly recommend them
