The major issues are:
Price Weight One vs. two or four speakers Both amps sound similar enough that you shouldn't worry about it. Figure out where your price point is and how much you will enjoy/hate lugging a larger amp around. if you are only going to use it at home, then go for the Deluxe. |

I think there was a thread about this a few weeks ago. I personally dont see the point in anything bigger than the HRDx. Its too loud as it is, I cant imagine adding more speakers and wattage would be that desirable.

i bought a deville 2x12, and it sounds amazing and performs perfectly. the only problem is that it's by far the biggest pain in the ass to deal with when setting up for a show; even with two people, it's pretty awkward to carry. i've actually found myself wishing i had bought the deluxe instead, since it's a little smaller and lighter and would be significantly easier to move around. i also can't tell a difference between the deluxe and my deville in terms of quality; they both generally have the same crystal clear sound.
i could, however, tell a difference between my 2x12 and the 4x10 deville. if you decide on getting one of the devilles, i reccomend the 2x12. i tried both of them out before buying, and the 4x10 immediately seemed to have a muddier, less detailed sound, while still remaining more or less the same otherwise. i would judge your decision based on whether or not you'll be moving this amp around a lot; if you're just playing at home, for your own enjoyment, the 2x12 will be great. but if you play shows frequently the deluxe would be much more convenient to have. |

When I was buying my first nice amp the Deluxe and the DeVille were the to final ones. Very slight differences in sound, which made the choice difficult, till the salesman realized that the posted price was wrong, and that the DeVille didn't have a special sales price for the closed door sale I was at, so it turned out being a few hundred more that the Deluxe. Then the decision was rather easy.
Pretty much, as mentioned before, the only big differences are power, wieght, and cost. The only one of those where the DeVille is superior is power, and the Deluxe can get plenty loud. |

Playing loud you will be hard pressed to hear much of a difference. However, playing at low levels at home, the HRDX gives a tighter and cleaner sound. Play each of them at 2 and I believe you will hear a difference.

Sorry I can't speak to the difference in sound, but I have a Deville and it weights a TON, and actually I've never been all that impressed with its sound. I have a Deluxe with I use for 98 percent of my gigs. The Deville is so loud I ususaly face it into the back wall of the stage and throw a coat over it just to tame it down while still keeping it cranked.
If your local deal will let you take them both out to a gig, that would help, how amps sound in the store or at home doesn't matter much, it's how they sound on stage with the mix of other instruments. good luck

Deluxe is loud enough for basically any large indoor/small outdoor space. It was on about 4-5 at the school auditorium during a preformance.
