AC30 CC2 has odd hum in power section

after i've had it running for an hour or so i notice that there's some hum (even in standby) and it appears to be located on the top left. looking through the grill i believe it's in close proximity (or coming from) the power transformer. there is no out-of-the-ordinary noise through the speakers when playing it.

also, it may just be in my mind, but i notice more noise now when it's on and i'm not touching my guitar strings, or metal on the amp, etc.

grounding issues in the power transformer?

Hi johnny this is the new vox ac30cc2 I have one its a fantastic amp!!!...
its the new Chinese plexy all tube pcb amp

I like mine a little more-different then my Victoria 45410

Does it have a "plump" sound when you turn it on. Mine did that, now the choke has went out.

'Vintage' smoothing causes more hum than 'Modern' smoothing. Check that out if you haven't already.

New = warranty.

Used = troubleshoot.

My AC15CC has the same hum. I think it's "normal" for the amp. One good fix it to turn it up louder and drown it out!

If the hum is the same as mine it doesn't get louder (through the speaker) with an increase in volume.

Is the hum there when the amp volume is low?

With ANY amp, if you crank them there will be some hum, that's just a fact of cranking. If the hum is louder than usual at low volumes though, there may be a problem...

Also, what pickups are you using?

Could be a grounding problem as you mentioned since it seems to be affected by your touching the strings...

grounding issues in the power transformer?

Let's take note of the symptoms....humming in the area of the power transformer even when on stand-by. I would bet that with hand on the PT one would sense some vibration being generated in the PT. This is not a good sign. I would try to enforce the warranty. That PT might work in that condition for a long time, or it may give up the fight soon.
