I am a giant Peavey Classic fan! I mainly loved it for it's classic rock type of overdrive. I prefered the 4x10" over the 2x12".
At 50 watts, you can EASILY get good country cleans. Some session dudes are using Vox AC30's for some tracks - the Classic 50 uses the more british flavored EL84 tubes (as found in the Vox's)... so some of the true blue Fender fans here may dog them in favor of 6L6 type amps (or 6V6 Deluxe Reverb type amps for a "warmer" country clean). -- Describe the tone you're aiming for. Maybe some songs/recordings. That'll help us recommend for, or against, the Peavey. |

Quote:
Vox amps sound the way they do because of several factors, not just because they use EL84s. The 2x12 C50, equipped with a couple Emmi Tonkers should chicken pick for days. |
