Cleaning rusted amp parts

I have a Bassman 70 that I obtained in a swap with a friend. It was stored in a damp basement and is somewhat rusty. I've had it refurbed with a new grounded cord and new caps and it works and sounds good. However, the screws, nuts, washers and jacks on the faceplate are rusty. Is there a way to clean them without having to replace everything with new? Escpecially the jacks. I'm building a new wood cabinet for the head and would like it a little cleaner looking.

Well if you pull the nuts, washers and hardware off, you can use some WD40 and a scuff pad to remove the rust, I use the green Scotchbrite pads.
Chrome polish works ok too, but if the chassis straps and corners are real rusty, you'll get the rust off but the parts won't be all shiny like new chrome.
