Speaker Efficiency in DRRI?

Can I replace the Jensen speaker in my 2year old DRRI with something Less Efficient ? This amp sounds great when cranked to 5-6 but that is too loud for most places I play - seem logical that if I got a less efficient speaker then 5-6 would be less loud but still push the amp enough to get the MOJO.
Anybody try that ?
Also, how does one measure speaker efficiency?

sure ... shop the Weber menu [www.webervst.com/crossref.htm] for something with early breakup and the tonal qualities you're looking for. Ted will give you email advice if you like. for my playing style, ultra-efficient speakers sound sterile and cold (and loud!). less-efficient speakers have a "softer" sound to me. i'm sure there's a way to measure efficiency, but one of the more tech-savvy guys will need to field that one.

Yep, and old Oxfart or Utah from the 70s should be fairly inefficient.

Else, get Ted to build you a 12F150, but use a 20 ounce magnet on it.
