looking to buy: Old Fender tube amp

I have always wanted to upgrade, and am currently looking for a fender tube amp. Somewhere from 15-30 watts, and no more than about $400. I have heard that many used ones from the 80's are of good value, and have looked at the Fender Field Guide. Problem is, there's so many that I can't figure out where to start!

Look for an '80s Fender Superchamp. These were amazing amps that had footswitchable clean/overdrive and a master volume. I had one from 1983 to 1987 and used it for a lot of small clubs.

I doubt he'll find a SuperChamp that cheap unless it's trashed.

It's possible if you really look. I saw a clean one here not that long ago for around that price. But this is Austin.

There is a Fender Princeton Reverb II at Austin Vintage Guitar. I saw it about 2 weeks ago. I'm sure Steve would ship, but I don't think you would buy the amp without playing it. The wanted $400 for it.Just trying to be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention, but at this point I'm not even sure I am going to get a new amp; I just heard very positive things about the ol' fenders. I think the Prineton reverb II seems to be a reasonable size, would one normally cost about 400?

You're probably not going to find a superchamp at any reasonable price anymore...they're pretty rare eggs. (have one...love it)

A Reverb II is a nice cousin of the SC. Fairly similar circuits. $400 is probably a decent deal depending on condition.

Now that would be an excellent candidate. Clean it up, service it and do some BF modding, and one of those should be sweet. The 2x10 version would probably be best.

The 30 sounds good. How cheap is "cheap"? After reading all of the vintage telecaster forums, my definition of "cheap" seems to be somewhat confused
