dunno about the LP, but several of my buddies think highly enough of the BJ to use them as their main gigging amps -- note that this mostly in the small-club scene.

I think the Gibson Les Paul Jr is more like a Fender Champ or Dr Z Mini Z I had a Gibson Les Paul JR for a while it had a short and I had a 30 day return time so I sent it back I now have a champ clone and a Dr Z Mini Z The Mini Z out of the box kicks the other two amps BUT big time!!!... But I put new tubes and a Jensen P12Q speaker in the champ clone and it one of the best sounding amps I've heard!!!... |

I HATED my BJR, so I got rid of it.
The Blues Jr is a pretty loud 15 watts, whereas the Gibson LP Jr is more like 5 watts. A Champ is always great :)

I just got the Gibson LP JR yesterday and I really like it. It's pretty damn loud for 5 watts. I haven't been able to get it to half way on the volume, because I live in an apartment. It sounds really good and the lack of a tone knob doesn't matter, because it's really interactive with your guitar's controls.

I played the LP Jr. this week. Nice little amp. I was testing a new Strat I bought and was impressed with the tones I was getting thru the amp. By the way, the store had 2 of them marked down to $300. Let me know if you're interested and I'll help you get them. I think that's a dang good price. They were around $5-600 which is overprice IMO.

Just tried the Gibson Junior today and was impressed. I actually tried a Parker through it which had a piezo as well as 2 humbuckers. It's really a cool amp. I'd say warmer than a Champ, good gain but not as gnarly..
I think for the money, I'd rather have a Delta Blues. mojohen

Gibby
I just received my new lil' Gibby today. I am very satisfied with this amp. It will be perfect for bedroom and praise band use.
I have had too many Blues Juniors to keep track. Since I have been turned on to the ptp style amps I have a hard time going back. Don't get me wrong, there are a bunch of the pcb amps that sound really good. I even believe the Talos brand that Bill Kirchen uses have a circuit board / hybrid design. The wiring is very tidy. I don't envision having any problems with this amp for years to come. Thanks endzone |
