I'm a huge "Cube head". I have the Cube 30, the Microcube, and two JC-55's. I love Roland stuff; I'm a clean tone freak, and something about Roland's clean tone is smooth, full, and rich, but also clear. It seems like the big debate right now is between the Cubes and the Vox AD's...both great amps for the price, but I'm glad the Rolands don't have the reliability issues the Voxes do...

I got mine at a sale.
So it was more of the price then anything else. I could have brought home a 15 watt vox, but the cube had 30 watts and a 10 inch speaker and that really motivated me to get it. I think it would be hard to setup a cube and a vox and really say one kicked the others butt. Like papa said it will all come out in the wash.

Now we have two similar amps 64..
love my Cube 30....sometimes tempted to mike it..
Vox scared me off with reliability issues....hmmm... tube vs. ss >>>twin vs. JC>>>Roland has been doing SS right for 30 years now....many guys will take a JC over a twin...Roland vs. Vox....I would take the Roland in a small modeling amp...there is something about its sound that is more dimensional to me....warranty runs out next year...then the speaker out gets added....small modeling amps are cool, but I have a big Rocktron I am gonna sell. I have a good high resolution Yamaha Magic Stomp that I can get stellar sounds just by going in to a good warm sounding analog amp....got a Classic 50 4x10 that need a careful going over witha meter before I retube it. What is up with the biasing strategy with that amp??? Cant wait to pedal up that beast.... Maybe this week Ill get motivated to get thet meter out.. |

Stock it is fixed bias, non adjustable, you have to mod to make it adjustable. If you ask over at the Peavey forum there is at least two real nice amp techs cajun and tmenzo and a peavey employee, roger crimm, that really knows thier stuff.

Micro - 30 - 60
First I got a Micro Cube. I liked it both by itself and lined-out into something bigger. So I got a Cube 30. I liked it too, but I found it to be not quite strong enough in a full band jam context. So I sold it and got a Cube 60. It’s terrific (and loud)! While it hasn’t replaced my Rivera R55-112 as my primary gigging amp, I find myself using it a lot:
The Acoustic model works great with my passive piezo-equipped acoustic guitar. It’s a ‘poor man’s Polytone’ for Jazz (JC Clean and Black Panel models). Whereas I heavily favored the Brit Combo model on both the Micro Cube and the Cube 30, I use the Tweed model almost exclusively for Rock/Pop/Blues/Country on this one, with the Classic Stack model as an occasional option if I need to go just ‘over-the-top’ (with gain @ no more than ¼ on either – I’m not that kind of a guy). It’s got a Tuner-out (can be used to slave another amp), a good sounding speaker emulated line out, & an extension speaker jack (never used it). Effects are the same as the other Cubes. It still weighs only 32 pounds and costs under $350. Highly recommended! |

Peavey two button footswitch works, almost ...
It works on a cube, but you gotta hit the button twice to get it to change. The select/effects switches the effect on and off and the reverb button switches the clean/lead channels. I'm sure one of the tinkers could get it work normally if they wanted too.

Tom Karol, go ahead and turn the gain half way up, go ahead, I wont tell anyone you dunn it.
But seriously, my friend bought a 60 before I got my 30. I had played the cubes before and knew they sounded good, so I recommended to him. He does church gigs in a gospel band, he didn't even try the amp models, he was sold on the big clean sound. You should have seen his face when I turned up the gain on the classic stack, "Is that my amp doing that ??" I fell out laughing. |

OK, but only if I'm home alone and I use the flanger and delay at the same time! |

Had the Cube 30 about two years. Still sounds great, no problems. My bedroom amp, play mostly Telecasters thru it. Its had a lot of hours put on it. Even use it every Wednesday night at a little open mic jam I run at a local bar. Great little amp.
