G-DEC

I just bought this practice amp & am impressed.
Lotsa novelties with the built in effects along with bass & drum loops.
Now I gotta figure out how to add to the MIDI files from the website..Keep on pickin!

It sounds even better if you line out from the headphone jack into your main amp, just like having a whole band to rehearse at anytime.

I got one and like it a lot.

You need a couple of things

* Midi Cable
* Software to talk to it (G-DEC)

You can get the software from the Fender site...

http://www.fender.com/support/downloads/

Couple of options on the cable. Midi to Midi, Midi to USB. You'll have to determine which suits your hardware.

Bummer for me is I can't locate my cable.

Cheers and HTH,

Bob

Download the Midi Guide from the Fender website.
I recommend the M-Audio USB-MIDI interface cable. Runs about $40 at GC or on line at MF.
Then download the Greg Koch presets from Fender. Enjoy!
Sound quality could be better but like jonkay1 says, line out to another amp or what I do is plug my Tele into my Vox VR-15 and play the backing track of my choice on the G-DEC and jam.

The GDec is one of the best tools for a guitarist in any style, at any level, ever. I use it for pedal steel mostly - not with the country presets, but with ones like "think Floyd" or"Take 5" - stuff outside the box.

Best darned tool for the price I think I have ever purchased.

Yep... I love this thing too. Doesn't matter what I am practicing, the thing is awesome. The only things that would make it better would be the option for it to end after so many iterations, and a group of people to stand there gawking at you when you practice. Maybe someday they'll add the first option to the firmware... as for the second, I won't hold my breath.

G-DEC is the new...

(fill in your own... Champ, Smoky, Pignose, etc.) Very innovative and desireable. I would have bought one (even I can afford it), but I already have most of those things, except the midi, in other practice tools that I'd purchased before it was introduced.
